    RWS stirrup pump

Bought the stirrup pump a while back now thought I would see if it works so connected my aa s200 to it managed to get some air in the gauge needle moved! My questions are 1) do you have to pull handle fully out before you push down? and do you do the pumping Rapidly?

It might be different for the RWS, but I doubt it. I have a Hills pump used on an AA S400 and find there is a technique to using it effectively. Yes, a full stroke is needed, else you'll be compressing very little input into even less output. More important is that the down stroke must be completed or you achieve nothing. I don't use the meager strength I have to pump, just my body weight carefully balanced and aligned over the pump and hold it there until the pump bottoms out on each stroke.

Unless filling from empty, pumping rapidly will only tire you out quickly and heat the pump up. It's a very good excuse to take a breather whilst the pump cools down...
