Beautiful guns that intrigue me but can they be made to work? Have no experience with them.

I have 3 and they are a pleasure to shoot
I'd have thought you'd be wise to test such an ancient gun across a chronograph.
How do you fill them with an adaptor?
i made a valve for it yesterday - seems to work witha low pressure fill , i might try to pressure test it this afternoon by filling it with water and taking it to maybe 1500 psi just to be sure it will be ok on co2
Best calibre for me is 4.5mm. i just roll a JSB 4.53 pellet with a Kebab stick (They have rifled barrels)you should get 2p groups at 20yds and the bottom of a beer can at 40yds
not wanting to butt in to the original thread and i can start a new one if i should but it is a similar subject - i am this afternoon trying to make a valve for a giffard rifle - trying to work out how i will do it , but i am making a nylon base and a maybe brass valve but i am not sure how brass will stand up to the pin hitting it to fire it , i could not see how to seal the original and now i seem to have lost a bit or two from the thing , i seem to remember it had a big leather type washer on it and the threads were sealed with a tar like substance - i will try to use o-rings
Hello
I have always liked the Giffard rifle.
A friend has a few but does not use them.
Would someone be so kind as to do an article / guide on recharging / using a Giffard??
Also, which is the more sought after rifle version / calibre??
Regards
Sam

In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.
There has been a very interesting post on here within the last two years, I think, from someone in Manchester on this very topic. I may be confusing two things but I think he had a video on YouTube too.
