    bsa meteor mk1 .177 power.

Can anyone tell me what the bsa mk1 meteor in .177 was the advertised as doing in feet per second I know the .22 was advertised as 550 but cant find anything for the .177 Wikipedia gives 550 for both that cant be right that would make the .177 about 5 1/2 ft lbs.

In his book L Wesley stated 550 & 500 for .177 & .22 respectively but I dont know where those figures came from but in the realms of things I wouldn't think that would be too far off, but I can't find a BSA advert with figures.

    I'd say more like 7 - 8 FP as stock. .22 8 - 9 FP
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Theres an article by Trevor Adam's that's on the net, cant seem to copy a link but it looks at the early Airsporter, Superstar & METEOR mk1. Says the Meteor was introduced in 1959,, initially only in 177 but soon after in 22 as well. Only velocity quoted was 550fps cant be sure but it seems to me this was in ref. to the 177 version.....

Been sorting my .177 mark 1 Meteor today it was doing 5 ft lbs after trying many different springs cutting down compressing coils even taken the leather seal down a bit as it protruded quite a bit in front of the piston I have got there its doing 665 fps with rws superdome weighing 8.3 that's 7.9 ft lbs that will do for me.
