    Absolutely, Pauly.

Jim explains the situation very well in his excellent articles. With the PCP, the air molecules lose their velocity and are not racing about like daft things and colliding off cylinder surfaces and each other, equating to loss of energy. That's why many recommend that you fill a PCP in the conditions you'll be shooting in.

With the springers, more modern thinking has revealed that the piston seal shrinks more than the steel cylinder with the cold, resulting in less friction / looser fit in the cold. Our very own Pete, Flyingfish, experienced a very severe performance drop with his '98 at very low temperatures last Winter matey.

    All interesting stuff.

Have a great time at the perm before the White Stuff comes.

It was indeed the 80 Tone. I'm not sure what's next to be honest. Probably a new van if I can sell the Africa in spring.
