baffled by 6mm spring rifle rules

So what is a black 6mm spring powered gun that fires above 2 joule ? Is it an illegal airsoft or a fire arm ? or possibly something else? How could anyone own one ?

Umarex NXG APX BB / Pellet now the toy of choice had thought a plastic BB would be more suitable for the back garden but with variable pumps this is fine.
I would still like to know what the afore mentioned rifle would be classified as or what the legal consequences of owning such a "lethal weapon" would be.

Airsoft sniper rifles achieve nothing like the accuracy of air rifles.

Forget about tight grouping.They are designed to hit a man sized target out to 40 or 50 yards at about 350-400fps velocity.

Head, chest, arm, hand, leg, foot - a hit anywhere on the body is a hit.
