    Resurrected from the dead

Today I received the excellent news that the Whiscombe 65 scrapper sold by Holts in June of last year is now fully resurrected to, as my friend Charlie put it, is in stunning condition and a real treat to behold.
It now sits in a thumbhole stock believed to be by Dave Welham, and I am informed shoots brilliantly.
It had to have parts rebuilt and a new barrel was required, the new barrel is aSteyr, a first for a Whiscombe.
I look forward to seeing it in the flesh. Since Charlie is not a member of this forum I am passing on the good news for him.

The ally/steel break barrel Whiscombes are loctited to allow for different expansion coefficient of ally and steel. I believe John Whiscombe refurbished this particular one so he knew how to take it apart.

Nice to see a Whiscombe being brought back to its former glory.

I saw that John Welham stock at John Whiscombe's and it's very nice too, one of the nicest I had seen!

Here is the action before refurbishment:

Even the inside of the barrel has rusted! As stated above, John had replaced it with a Steyr barrel that he had, I believe that he used it for testing when selecting barrels for his guns at the start of production, John settled on polygonal from LW.

It would be nice to see some pics of it after the refurbishment!
