    Rearsight ID please

Hi chaps, bit of help please, bottom left in the pic - is this a mk1 HW77 rearsight? Fixed notch element - It does not have the rotating rearsight element so I'm not sure?

Yes, it looks like one. Although it could have been a rearsight block with an oldschool notch type one from another Weihrauch rifle put on it.

We will never know the provenance of this sight I fear.

But the one above it is the Chinese knock-off that one finds on the DB4 etc.

    Hi ya,

Thanks for that...as you say it could be a hybrid of HW sight parts, it does all fit together quite nicely.

The block on the HW(?) sight has a slot milled in it to allow it to pinch up, unlike the Chinese rearsight above it which has smaller inset block that pinches up.

Both sights are made of steel, no plastic...

The Chinese one does seem to be a reasonable copy of the other though...

    Thanks again.

Both our early 77's have that sight. Think the rotating option came later.

Thanks, so it definitely is an early HW77 rearsight then and that settles it.
