    Theoben SLR 98

Guys the clear out continues, any idea of what the .177 version is worth please?
This is absolutely immaculate, as it came out of the box, with additional single shot tray.
    Thanks in advance.
    Pete.

My good friend and collecting Mentor just sold his walnut version in .22 with two magazines and a single shot tray with built-in scope mounts for £500, so imho, if as described, that is your price. Hope this helps.

You are welcome mate -- and if you should contemplate taking the Webley MK.I pistol which I currently have advertised as a part-ex against your HW35E, do please let me know as we could make that work? Atb: G.

At least £750 given the condition and smaller (rarer) calibre.

Thanks for the offer Gareth but I’m soon to be clearing the pistol collection as well.
    Cheers,

    Can't see that for a 98, honestly
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Yep, same 'real time' price range as I have actually seen a similar example recently achieve (see post #2 as above ).

No worries Pete, and you have probably done me a favour (lol), as am actually mid-cull myself at present, too, but weakened for a while there when I saw your wonderful walnut HW35 . Atb: G.

The 98 isn't as sexy as an 88, but still a fine rifle. £500 odd sounds cheap and £750 expensive. The exact price may just come down to the wood and look, just some look smarter than others.
Well used then they compete with all the other rifles out there so £350 is more like it. Top whack is the condition and got to be pretty perfect.

I do think the .177 is the better calibre but here either are as good as each other. I'm warming to the .22 just for the smack of them. No longer are people chasing pure accuracy over range as a PCP does that. So its fun shooting at farmyard ranges and chasing another 15m isn't very important for collectors. Pure rarity will always cary a small premium which is where the .177 may have an edge.

£600 wouldn't be robbing anyone for the condition. A good addition, another banked, to any Theoben collectior. Or even a collector of fine rifles of their time. Its not going to jump off the shelf as there are a few out there, so its a bit luck who has the cash this week; who doesn't want to put off not having one longer.
