Well, I'm sold on peep sights.

Following the below topic - usual failing middle age eyesight means I cannot use the normal rear sight as well as I'd like on my 77K and wanted to try a peep sight.

Thanks to DCL_dave for the deal on a Chinese (Weihrauch style) rear sight and after an hour or so in the workshop I rigged this up. I did not have a washer or similar with a small enough aperture so fashioned some alu plate with a 2.0mm hole. A longer front bolt sits in the middle arrestor hole.

Works a blooming treat. Bearing in mind [excuse time ] the failing light and not yet sighted in + I am still using the 77k front post (still need a HW35/80 hooded front sight if anyone has one) I'm pretty chuffed with a just over 1" group for the first five shots at 21 yds and 1/2" should be doable with some effort.

I need to get a proper set up but these peeps are a heck of a lot easier to use.

yeah, me too. I really like the simplicity of opens, but everything is just a blurry mess these days.. the peep really sharpens everything up, especially the target itself !
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

It's amazing what can be done with a cheap Chinese rearsight and a bit of ingenuity.

    Well done mate.
