What you need is one of those Remote Sentry Guns they had in Aliens - make a bit of a mess of your house though

Hell they could be using the cavity as a motorway and pop up anywhere in the house! Wouldn't waste time with the gun set up, get em live trapped, then shoot them.

Might be an idea to find out if any of the next door neighbours are having problems as well ! If they are or find out they are, you might be able to club together and get a professional exterminator in...just a thought.

How you ask them might well depend on how well you get on with them

It’s a 1900’s house so no cavity walls, have asked one neighbor but he’s not heard anything, they’re still eating the poison but no sign of the smaller ones on the trail cam but there’s a whopper up there
emailed the council pest control today but could be a wait of up to 8 weeks ! Could be another lot by then !

How about trying one of those sonic animal repellers ? I’ve got one that has 4 different frequencies and one of them is supposed to keep rodents away.
Mice and rats have very acute hearing so it might be worth a go.

    I’ve got this one.

If you read down it does cats, dogs, foxes and rodents.

No first hand experience, only what you see in the links.
They are eye wateringly expensive but would appear to be selective and effective.
More certain that shooting them with an airgun, working 24/7 and no collateral damage.

I’m sure this has been done. Someone tried to sell deer stalking in the US via a webcam and rifle mounted on a PTZ type mount. Caused an uproar.

Interesting stuff pigeondave, my Son came in today and I mentioned the remote rifle and he started talking about radio controlled servos as used in model making etc but it would have to take the weight of a gun and NV, are pan and tilt servos available for this job ?

Have a look at Arduino or Raspberry pi and stepper motors for movement/control. With raspberry you can use a pi noir camera with ir leds for illumination. All controlled via wifi

If you have the servo tilt near the centre of gravity/balance of the rifle its not going to need to be too big.
    same goes for the pan.
This version uses the servo directly controlling the pan, you can design it to be used on a ring gear so you get a mechanical advantage.

My friend and I got most of the bits together but never got round to assembly.
He's a bit of a computer wizz and thought that he could run it off a raspberryPI (its all geek to me)

He's probably right, amazing what you can do with a raspberryPI if you can program it
