    Classic butt plate

    Hi,

I'm tweaking my FWB300 slightly by adding some barrel weights and stock weights.
I have found the rubber on the butt pad has lost it's 'rubberiness' and does not grip to jacket as well as it could. This has shown up more now I have some weights on the muzzle.

Does anybody have a classic looking adjustable butt plate in black they could sell me?

This one would be good, but a little high in price really, but in black would suit the rifle and not look out of place.

If you have something maybe you could PM me and send a pic to my email ?

    Thanks.

Have you thought of adding grippy tape to the butt?

The SKP butt you linked to is really a Smallbore butt. The heel and toe wings will fold around the shoulder more than allowed for 10m AR. It's also heavy; that's not a problem for NSRA 0.22 shooting, but could tip your air rifle overweight.

If the weight at the muzzle is tipping the rifle out of your shoulder, is there too much? The extra weight may slow the muzzle, but is that worth a wobbly butt?

What are my options for a legal adjustable 10m air rifle butt plate?

I don’t know what Robert is charging these days, but his products are very good. I used to use his Standard Rifle butt plate on a FWB601 about 25 years ago.

    Thank you for that link.

That plate looks really nice, but I am trying to find something with a slightly more 'old school' look, something that would suit the older look of the FWB300. I don't really want to stick grip tape to the old hard rubber as that could scratch at my jacket over time.

Old school and alu don't really go for 10m AR. The System Gemini was one of the first. You could look for a spare FWB plate, or an Anschutz 4709 if it will fit; the 4709b is the more curved version.

Top grip sticks to butt plates too.

When I used to dabble with golf a mate told me to take fine glass/sand paper to the grips to restore grip if they had gone shiny. Could be worth a try on your butt pad.

Rather than sanding the original rubber, can you buy on a sticky tape sheet the rubber granules you have on a shooting glove? rubber granules would be less aggressive and more flexible than anti slip tape.

Maybe this will work as a modern but simple alternative?

    Top Grip rubber: https://www.intershoot.co.uk/acatalo...-Grip-256.html

It isn't pre-glued, but it is cloth backed and will stick.

Thank you, I didn't Understand what 'Top Grip' was until the link.
I did do a search, but couldn't find, so the link is awesome.

    Thanks
