    Early 95 / 98 - lack of safety scribblings

    Can any let me know if the early 95 / 98's had a lack of the safety scribblings on the action?

    Rumour had it, it was done for the US market following a few people ignoring safety regs on rifles and shooting themselves!!! Mach 1.5

    That sounds more likely to me. A lot of US-made/market guns have been covered in safety warnings for ages.

    If its for a project I would get a newer one and remove the writing when being reblued.

    Probably more to do with all the sue happy fools over here. You know the type, "Hey, this thing just shot me when I pointed it at my foot and pulled the trigger". "I'm gonna sue the manufacturer".

    It looks just a bit too deep to grind then polish out.

    The other option would be to weld over the top, then grind/polish it back - the only problem would be the difference in the final re-blueing colours, due to the composition of the weld metal and the parent metal of the original receiver...………...I think

    They have most use a transfer but Weihrauch stamp it on the gun, I know someone that knows Mr Weihrauch well he asked if he could buy a rifle from them with no wording . He said that it was against the law as it was an EEC reg.
