    Fwb124 mastersport

recently purchased a mastersport tuned fwb 124.

It has the bronze piston and the 2 stage trigger work carried out and a nice walnut stock

This rifle was purchased new in 1985 and the previous owner bought it from new to shoot ft.

The rifle is in very nice condition for its age

The only part needing attention is the airmasters phantom silencer the finish has worn off so will get that re done

Rifle came with a kassnar 2-7 wide scope also bout with the rifle in 1985

I got original invoice and the sewing patch which was a nice bonus

Best pellet pervious owner found was superdomes and some h&n he gave me a tin of both but must be from 80s

Well that gets about as good as it gets. An example of a great rifle further enhanced by a full tune by a tuning house of that era. There aren't many high profile Custom Tune Houses, a few in the UK and a few in the USA. They didn't do great numbers so any is a real piece of Air Rifle development history. If they proved anything it was that the market and demand was there for "better" air rifles. Importantly money was there for those brave enough to produce "better" mousetraps, so investment was made.
To me its an important rifle in the development of Air Rifles. The 1980's being the time when air rifles really took up the momentum to the sport we now enjoy.

At the time these rifles were too expensive for me. I wasn't such a fan of the front end of the stock being a Sport owner; all too HW looking. The new look HW80 was coming out, the earliest had the Sport pointy look and then they rounded the end. A much heavier rifle though.

Interestingly this Mastersport could be mistaken for the recent HW95 Luxus. Just shows how influential it was.

    FWB Matersport

I'll be reunited with my old Mastersport FWB this Saturday at the bash. Many thanks to Rikard and other bbs members who helped collect her. Mach 1.5

I have the original invoice it was £275 in 85 plus £10 postage.
But he drove down and collected 2 in person.
His mate had ordered one as well in the end 6 of the local shooters bought them.
He also bought an hw80 dave tuned as well
He won the 1986 Scottish ft championship with this fwb124
Soon after that they all went pcp.
The Mastersports and venoms were sold on

    Really nice.

85-86 was about the last hurrah for the FWB in FT, as the HW77 had arrived in spring 84 and quite quickly took over. Before, as you say, the PCPs then took over.

Interesting, that's surprising. Where in Scotland is the Westfield club?

Looks in very good condition, the only thing that's not original is the butt pad.

Originally, it would have had a Parker Hale ventilated pad. The issue with these 30 years later is that if the rifle has been stored resting on its butt in a cabinet, they collapse. I would imagine either this has happened or someone was looking to reduce the length of pull.
