Cool Wanted 22'250 kit and load recommendations

    Gents,

Just found myself a 22'250 Stainless/Synth Tikka 595 - to add to the other four in various flavours.

    1:14 twist rate.

Need dies and brass please - what have you got?

Recommended powders & loads for 50 or 55gn sp?

As ever, appreciate the thoughts of the BBS massive......

    Rgds

    Hi Ian,

H380 is the classic powder for .22-250 but I suspect REACH means supplies will become limited now. I've had excellent results with RL15 and N140 using both 50gn and 55gn bullets in my Ruger M77 stainless but as I'm not sure there is any point to a .22-250 unless you're pushing the bullet as fast as possible, my go-to powder is now Vihtavouri N540.

Given your love of a bargain you might also try Lovex 73.6 (formerly Accurate 2520) or the newer Lovex S065 as they're both less expensive than other brands. I've found them excellent for getting decent velocity but I think they're slightly dirtier in use.

For those bullets weights I'd be looking at RS52 or Viht N140

Cheers Guys - pretty sure I have some Vit in the box....and have a local source for Lovex, so looks like I have an easy start point.

    Many thanks,

I have a 1/14 twist Remmy 700 VSSF and use

36.8 grains of Viht N140 with 50 VMax
35.3 grains of Viht N150 with 55 gamekings

Both loads shoot 3/4” (or better if I do my bit right) at 100 yds my rifle didn’t like N140 with the 55 gamekings

    Thumbs up

    Gents,

Rifle was assembled and some loads put together - currently got plenty Varget on hand so used that with 50gn Sierra Blitz to get the optics on zero.

Using the ATN 4k pro on this rifle - result: bug holes! Load development over until my powder stocks look threatened.

Really chuffed as the rifle cost nothing, and despite the barrel looking good, with any second hand fast stepping .22, there was always the possibility of having got a dog.

Happy days - and my thanks for all suggestions, and the guys who got me kit to let this lady roar again!
