    Poor old MK3

Some Tw4t in the past scored the cylinder to key some metal cement, in order to fit a scope

other than it shoots and groups very well and will probably be going to Kempton

That’s a real shame Pete, some people are tw4ts as you say. I had some similar damage on a BSA Cadet and it is repairable but very very time consuming,I set up my mig welder so you could bit by bit build up some weld into the areas of missing metal but without the weld penetrating too far. I was worried about warping so just went very slowly and moved around areas. Once done some careful dressing back and the damage is virtually non existent and certainly ok enough for a humble Cadet. Even though this is a .177, I doubt it will fetch half that, thanks to the stupid mod attempt.

A Mk3 in .177 is rarer than .22 Peter. Webley's former Works Manager Tom Cooper once explained to me they made something like 9 out of every 10 in .22.

Other than the damage to the top of the cylinder, yours is quite a nice example.

Shame, lovely rifle though, rest is in GC! considering there is no lettering on the tube, probably missing its original scoperail, with this butchers attempt to fit another!

I believe this model to be earlier than the later nasty scope rail rifles, the tap lever is pre alloy cheapo

    Thumbs up

    Shame about the mk3 Pete

    How about this?

Some numpty tried welding the aluminium scope rail to the steel cylinder on this Camargue, Most likely to stop creep!

If they had half a brain between them they could be dangerous

Managed to fettle the snotty bits of fluxless weld off but the reblue left something to be desired!!

I have seen some bodge jobs that have made me cringe over the years, one was 2 monster jubilee clips clamping a scope to an Airsporter mk1, going all around the scope, cylinder and worst of all the stock. It was so tight that is sunk itself flush into the lovely 3 piece walnut
