I've been having a little look at the Diana 56 Semi recoiless rifle over the last few days. Very tempting Any opinions/experience with them would be much appreciated chaps

I have a 54 you're welcome to play with Mike, these use an identical action to the 56, and Nick is just having a fiddle with a 54 for the next Bash.

There's a bit of cost cutting with a few of the action components on these but the sledge system works well enough on them.
They're actually designed to run at 20+ Ftlbs and new ones are fitted with a transfer port restrictor for the UK market, but it's easy enough to fit a weaker spring and remove the restrictor for 12ftlb use --- there's no point cocking a 20ftlbs of Spring to get 12ftlbs out.

Thanks very much indeed Mick. I'd love to have a little go with your 54 in June. I'll bet they shoot extremely sweet with the transfer restrictor removed and a weaker spring installed. Sounds like a good tune

Any photos of these Diana 54s, don't think i've ever seen one never mind shoot one unless there has been one at the bash and i've not known what it is?

    Cheers

This was mine when I got it Mel :-

I've since swapped the scope out for a 10 X 40 mil dot scope on a dampamount and fitted a bipod, if I'd have bought the whole rig new it would have cost over a grand --- shame I don't get on with it.

I know you've said a few times in the past that you're not exactly over-enamoured with it, Mick.
Shame really as, theoretically at least, they should be superb.
Big chunky piece of kit, mind, and, as you say......LOADSA MONEY!

That 56 does look altogether much more graceful, Mike.

I see Solware stock them......wonder if Big Bill would be up for a deal on one and collect when you're up for The Bash?

Just a little reduction in spring to soften the cycle. Power is down from 11.7 to 11.5 with AA Fields (the most efficient), but the shot to shot consistency is less than 2 fps! I put a video on my faceache page cos I didn't really believe it myself, I also put a pellet on the turret out of sheer excuberence. I know it means nothing, but for such a notoriously jumpy gun, it's not moving much.

I just hope it's accurate now
