    WEIHRAUCH HW97 Custom

Bought these two for some black Friday madness. I can't believe how heavy the one in the CS1000 stock is, but i'm in love, its been Sandwell tuned and its pellet on pellet at .20 cal. I will post up some pics. The other one has a CS800 laminate stock, its .177 cal and its also different . A pal seems to remember that it might of been a limited run off a company possibly 20 years ago and was well advertised at the time. Just wondering if anyone can give some further information. Paul at custom stocks cant remember unfortunately. Its the yellow stock btw.

    Cheers

I remember those laminate stocks back in the late 90s. Can't remember who sold them now but you are correct there were lots of ads in the mags for them. Very nice looking rifle mate

Hi Murphy, Paul at Custom Stocks has just confirmed that one of his colleagues remembers making them for Uttings. Would be good if anyone has a copy of the advert.

    Cheers

Out of interest how do you find the solid butt pad compared to a rubber one?

The first old mag I've picked up ...

    Airgun World December 1994

Inside back page full page ad ...

    Uttings Special Editions ...

    Laminated SE Special Edition guns.

"Our laminated stock rifles have been designed to meet the requirements of the dedicated HUNTER and FIELD TARGET shooter. They are up to 4x stronger than beech or walnut stocks, and will last a lifetime in the field. The stocks are impervious to the elements and will resist breakages caused by rough field treatment, and will look like new after years of arduous use".

The CS800 rifles ( as pictured above ) are under a large title ...

BUILT to WIN ( CS700 versions under title BUILT to HUNT ).

... and are labelled SE Field Target Models.

The HW97k in the CS800 stock is priced at £325 or £13 per month ( adj. recoil pad add £12 ).

    Ooh ...

    Airgunner January 1995 ... 84 page bumper edition ( £1.90 ) ...

    Pages 50 and 51 ... two page spread ...

    Title ...

    GOING AGAINST THE GRAIN!

"Nigel Allen checks out three new custom rifles from Utting's that come with rather unusual woodwork"

    5 B&W photos showing ...

    ... a BSA Superstar in a 'Hunter stock' ( CS700 ).

    ... a TX200 in a 'Field Target stock' ( CS800 ).

    ... and a Falcon FN19 in a 'FT Pro stock' ( CS1000 ).

    All in pale laminate.

There's an inset box giving all stock statistics ... Number of laminates per stock, length of pull etc, and price ( of stocks ).

Then the same ad as in my previous post is two pages on ... page 53.

I certainly owned a CS800 for a Rapid 2 with Anschutz trigger (side safety cutout) in wood laminate which looks very like yours. I suspect that CS did them to special order.

Sorry for all the posts ... still can't edit.

Having read the article through ... the TX200 pictured in the Field Target stock ( CS800 ) is actually a TX200SR.
