You also get funny looks from the staff; you can see it on their faces - "uh-oh, we have a gun nut here".
Also at the toy town post offices in newsagents pizza parlours etc, they probably won't have the leaflets with the full information on, so be prepared to be turned away, or be kept waiting while they ring around trying to get some information from further up the food chain...
Go to a proper post office with your £12.12, anything else is not worth the hassle!
Too many guns, or not enough time?
Better still, print off the RM Prohibited & Restricted leaflet from their website & take it with you.

Been there, bought it, tried it, sold it
So I can send a sub 6ftlb air pistol (springer) without using parcelforce 48? Where can I find a letter stating of royal mail stating this as I can only find the one that says using pf48
Go on to the Royal Mail web site search prohibited & restricted items for "guns for sporting use" & read what it says which is what bighit has quoted above.
The only ParcelForce service is PF48, I think because it is surface mail not by air.
Always mark a gun "Surface mail only, do not fly".
If it moves.....shoot it!..If it don't move.....shoot it in case it tries to!!!
Light travels faster than sound....this is why I appear bright until you hear me speak!!!
only use parcelforce 48,not 24h or RMSD
parcelforce 24 AND RMSD can be flown, the xray at the airport flags it as a ''weapon'' and its held
its sent to Ireland for inspection,scratched/damaged.
yea its not a firearm and it MAY be returned, but why take the chance
PF48 ONLY
EDIT
Ive used PF48 a good 1500 times in the last 9 years with no issues.
Saved me searching as i came across this thread.
