    Scope options on a HW77

    Hi folks,

I currently use a little Bushnell Elite 10x40 on my early HW77k. It's short enough to sit clear of the loading port - so plenty of room for fat fingers.

I'm now thinking of putting a scope on my mk3 (current model) HW77k. I'd still like plenty of room for the digits but I'd like to try some different glass.

Any suggestions for a nice scope that would do the job, and not hang over the loading port?

    Hi Jack,
Depends on what you want use the combo for but I have a Bushnell Legend 3-15x40ao on my 77 and it suits me fine. Yes a longish scope but it just clears the loading port and can be used for both hunting and targets or whatever fits inbetween !

I like the the bushnell 10x40s too. hawke panorama 3-9x or 4-12 x 40 AO is also compact, clears the port, and has perfectly good glass. Slightly fine ret.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Or do you want to go retro and put a Optima Moonlighter on? Optically they show their age but its was what was done in the early years.
Bushnel Legends are bright enough, but then they are modern glass.
1" tubes look better over the modern fashion of 30mm.
For top class then hard to beat an old Leupold AO or a B&L AO.

    What sort of budget fella?

The Nikon prostaff and Vortex range are well worth a look.

I found 12x mag on my hw97 is as much as would take without blocking the loading port I have got Hawke vantage on both of mine good enough for paper targets at 30yards

Cheers guys. Thank you. I'll do a bit of research on your suggestions.

The main use will be targets. The budget limit will be £250'ish. I don't need illuminated reticules and I normally shoot at 10mag.

I wouldn't have a problem with finer crosshairs (tbh I find the elite mildots a little bit on the big side).

I could go with 25 or 30 tube but I would probably gravitate towards a 30 since I already have some glossy 25's for the older 77.

Agreed... I have one of these:
    P-Rimfire 2-7x32 Nikoplex
    https://www.nikonsportoptics.com/en/...ra-turret.html

I've calculated, tested & marked the 5 yrd intervals for the pellet I use and marked it on the turret using car pinstripe tape & a Sharpie. Tis Fantastic with a range finder!! Zap the target.. twist the turret.... Aim dead on with whatever mag and shoot! Tis great! Because it's 1/2moa per click, even though it's a .22 one rotation will take you out to 110yrds which for a sub 11ftlb 77 in .22 is just enough

I have a Hawke Airmax 4*12*44 on my 77K it just covers the loading port by 1cm this does not cause any problems loading even with fat fingers.
