Anyone ever replaced a battery in a Rutten \ Browning airstar?

Manual shows it's a standard 7.2v NiCad (1300mah) stuffed inside the butt.
Remove the butt plate, take the pack out.
Replace with the same from most model shops. Should be about £20, looks like it even uses the good old shite Tamiya connector found on almost all these packs as standard.
A new one will likely have more like 3600mah capacity too.
Great news mick, battery sourced. As it's 22 weekend, I feel obliged to bring it along.

I was going to say that there's a big RS component store near me at Bermuda if you couldn't get sorted elsewhere.

Big, big learning curve this afternoon.
The battery is very conveniently located behind the butt plate. I'd always assumed it was in that plastic lump under the fore end. Big mistake. As Solvo quite rightly said, they are a standard rc battery, mine was fifteen quid.
Unless you have to, don't go poking around inside one of these.

They're fascinating, but they weren't designed for disassembly. The little red led inside the trigger housing popped out. It's a complete sodbag to get back in. I ended up cutting the wires to the switch in order to have room. I then badly resoldered them. There wasn't enough wire or room to do a neat job. A new loom is going to have to be made at some point.
The rest is fairly straightforward, however I've got to sort the timing out. Something is wrong. It makes even more noise than before.
No bother, I'll bring it with me to play with.

Sounds like good news Dave, Glad you got it sorted so quickly.
The noise could be due to the increase in power, NiCad batteries decay badly over time so the new one is likely holding a higher charge than before.
I can't advise on the mechanism, sadly I've never seen one of these rifles, had no idea they existed this morning
Did you re-solder the old cable to get the right connector or did the shop sell you new connector too?
