Cool Sussex Interclub HFT 2019 - Round 4 RESULTS

    Hi Everyone

And now we are 40% of the way in to this year’s SIHFT.

Big thanks to the Ford HFT crew and Ford Ranges for hosting this round. Not the usual Ford weather – with no rain and only a relatively gentle breeze; just enough at times to catch you out.

Loved some of those very Fordie targets …. Specially the arrow and blob on lane 30 and the bat. With apologies to anyone else involved, my guess is that Lol’s been tinkering again in his metal shop.

Those NOT caught out by ‘odd’ targets or the breeze, included Kev Catt and Charles Peal who came in with joint top scores of 58 and an amazing 54 from GC with his TX200.

Didn’t fare so well?? What excuses did you take with you to your starting lane?

For my part, the list began Saturday evening, when I had a feeling that my usual gun was not holding air as it should. I topped up my ‘back-up’ (yes, another FTP) and decided I’d have to take it round today’s comp. However, I’d forgotten quite how unalike these two guns are – different length stock set-up, different cheek piece height, trigger completely different, different scope (EVX v’s the Digi Nite Eye) which is prob 12mm higher on its mounts and 30mm dia rather than 25mm of the Nite Eye. And would it group with the new pellets I’ve only just started using. NO. A check on Ford’s lovely range before the shoot resulted in my having to take the stripper off the end of the barrel and ‘roughly’ reset the zero to my preferred 35yds. Apart from that, I really had no idea what the holdovers were. And it showed. After that lot, I guess coming in with a 50 was a minor miracle

Anyway, here is the full set of results ….. today, this includes the Handicap column to reflect the fact that our one-n-only Primary Class entrant (Gabriel) earns an extra 4 points, which counts toward his potential Iden Fern team score.

Prize drawer winners today were :
    • Mark Rackley – the £27 cash prize, and
    • Aaron Friend – the Air Arms goody bag

Apologies from me for making an error when calculating (and announcing) today’s Team scores. In fact, Meon came out on top, with Buxted in 2nd place.

    Club Round 4 Cumulative Points
    Meon Valley 267 37
    Buxted 264 47
    Oaks 262 40
    Horsham 260 30
    Ford 252 31
    Iden Fern 252 27
    Swallows 225 31
    Bisley 133 18
    Maldon 132 30

Several teams needed to draw cards from the lucky dip, starting with Bisley and MAD, neither of which had any entries for the day and got 3 cards each (the max). Horsham needed 2 cards and Iden Fern and Swallows FTC 1 apiece.

Happy shooting wherever you are until the SIHFT mid year point and Round 5 at Buxted in 4 weeks’ time on Sunday 7th July.

Between now and then, we’ll wish all the best to those travelling to Holland next weekend for the Air Arms International. Otherwise there seems to be nowt occurring in Sussex on Sunday 16/6. Then we have the UKAHFT double-header at Rivington the week after (22nd and 23rd June) and the British Air Rifle Championships at MAD on the 30th.

Should you be aware of any other events of interest, please let us know.

Thanks Kev. According to what I thought was the latest all-encompassing Charles P published calendar, I only saw the next Buxted "open" event coincident with the SIHFT Round 5 on 7/7.

Good news that there's summat on in Sussex next week

    Fun fun fun...

Excellent day all round, with one fly in the ointment for me....more later.

Buxted, second, what the Lots of "visitors"

Thanks for accompanying me Charlie, calm as ever, especially considering your senior moment

    Top shooting Graeme

The aforementioned fly - now I am not totally without fault here and I fessed up to it at the time, I doughnut'd a target some time back and convinced myself I had hit it, in denial, even though those around me were unconvinced I had had hit it, a one was marked. I did however have a word with myself and change the card to a zero a couple of lanes later, so it was a temporary cheat....still beat myself up about it though.

Anyway, today I witnessed a blatant, silent, doughnut and the shooter looked up to his partner "plated it", "yep" was the response.

Several of us looked at each other and rolled our eyes, I should have jumped on it but didnt

If they are reading this they know who they are, I am not going to say who, but they need to take a look at themselves

Having had to deal with hearsay cheaters on numerous occasions in the past I can safely say it is a sh1t hospital pass. Being mild and timid it seldom comes easy. Confrontation at the time is unfortunately the only way to deal with it otherwise the opportunity is lost. Unfortunately most decent competitors would rather take the easy option and agree with the cheat rather than challenge and refuse to be blugeonged into a point being awarded. So don't just blame the cheat blame yourselves for your lack of conviction.

Visitors are merely that, people who come and go, taking your offered refreshment on their journey elsewhere.

Ooooo yes. Another stats officer boob. And that in spite of the fact that her other half made it quite clear when booking in that Mary had now become a Meonite.

Must have a word with him (sorry Mary)

Does mean the Meon team gun score for Round 4 climbs to 267.

Corrected on the spreadsheet. No other impact on the in-year points total.

Its like watching 'corrie' in the old days (who killed den...) at least it isn't boring haha!!

Well done top scorers (especially Oakies..) I see Simmo has had to start knocking targets over as his excuse book has been so violated! ('bout time ha!)

    Ford with no wind though.......

Will be back someday, hopefully end of summer.. haven't even looked through a scope let alone pulled a trigger

(i can imagine the sigh of relief from whoever has been saddled with simpleton )

    Be lucky X
