    Bsa Mercury questions

How much would a minter be worth chaps ? It also comes with a period bsa 4x32 Jap scope. Can the barrel pivot be tightened ? It looks to have a bolt and nut arrangement, not sure what MK it is.

    Any info would be appreciated

If it has a cross bolt it's a MK3, S or Challenger, Dave, the S and Challenger have Walnut stocks, the breech can be tightened by adding a shim under the nut.

    No idea on value.

The challengers have beech stocks but very nice ones. They can be identified by having a breech bolt and the raised maxigrip scope rail. Had one as a kid and would love another or a different model mercury with a breech bolt.

The breech can be tightened by doing up the bolt

As already said, Challengers have beech stocks with a raised cheek piece and proper checkering on the pistol grip.

May be able to take this one to Kempton Park if our RFD still has it. (Just managed to get him on phone, recently sold).

Yes Pete, but to do the job properly you add or subtract shims (WO98) :-

Really, I have about 3 or 4 shims on most of mine.

The parts diagram seems to indicate 4 shims so I am guessing you can add/take away as necessary?

    Memories........
I had a Mercury almost 40 years ago, my first air rifle. Couldn't tell you what version it was, I didn't even know there were different versions, but I could hit plastic toy soldiers at 15-20 yards with open sights no problem.
