    HW80 breech seal recommendations

I have not changed my breech seal on my 80 for many years and I always tried to get the the old style white seal but there are so many new types available now so I was wondering is there a seal that is considered the best ?

    Barry,

I have always used either the HW OEM 'white' seal, or Custom Air Seals (Australia) breach seals.

Storing a break-barrel rifle with the barrel broken does usefully extend the life of breach seals (at least it has for me).

Have fun & a good weekend

    Best regards

I thought that was my peculiar quirk. Even better with the leather ones.

    I.J.,

    Snap

Indeed, it was leather breach seals that started me doing this - originally my Wobbly Mk1 pistol in 1974.

Since then, I have always tried to keep the breach seals free from compression in storage.

To this end, my TX200 has a rectangle of plastic placed under the cocking lever, and my 10 m target side lever's have clothes pegs wedged under the cocking lever, and all break barrels are broken.

I really think it works, as my 1974 Diana 35, which I have had from new) is still using its original (no pun!!) breach seal

Have fun & a good Sunday

    Best regards

Further to the revelation Im not the only one 'losing it' (thanks Russ) I also use the little foam things women use to put between their toes when the are painting them ( ) on the barrels of my rifles in storage as this stops them banging together.
