Cool Sussex Interclub HFT 2019 - Round 5 results

    Hi Everyone

Round 5 done and dusted as we reach the 2019 SIHFT year’s half-way point.

Thanks to Buxted’s ‘evil’ course setters (Simmmo and Howard, I gather) for finding new ways of tricking us in to thinking something was closer or further away than pretty much anyone would have guessed. Very challenging and interesting course, chaps and you've even nearly managed to avoid the log-in-the-ribcage at Peg 12 (or was it 11?); a welcome improvement.

And was it just me, or were there some more ‘zilla targets (Diamond-zilla and Circle-zilla) than previously and a few ‘baby’ ones too?

Weather was, for the Summer we’ve been burning in so far, more than a trifle overcast and even dampish. And the darkness certainly played its part in making some of the denser woodland placements very tricky to find, let alone shoot and knock over. Not helped by failing to correct an over-bright IR and forgetting (again) to replace the battery which, in an old Hawke Digi Nite Eye means it's flashing on and off

Anyway, here is the full set of results …..

And we awarded the first 2 Platinum Badges of 2019 today - to Justin Rayner and Kev Hills. These are awarded to those achieving 5 x Gold badges in any SIHFT season, so Kev and Justin have these at the very earliest possible round of the year. (and thanks to Sasquatch for reminding me to edit the mention)

Please let me know a.s.a.p. if you spot anything you think is amiss.

Prize drawer winners today were :
    • Owen Wilson – the £25 cash prize, and
    • Bruce Ingram – the Air Arms goody bag

And the Team scores, both in-round and year-to-date, are:

    Club Round 5 Cumulative Points
    Buxted 263 59
    Meon Valley 261 48
    Ford 246 41
    Swallows 234 40
    Oaks 228 48
    Iden Fern 224 34
    Horsham 218 36
    Bisley 218 24
    Maldon 0 34

All bar 2 clubs (Buxted and Meon) needed help from the lucky dip cards. With the low turn-out today, there were insufficient to include the ‘normal’ 3 we would have drawn for MAD. With no members present (due, no doubt, to a big home comp), this would have made no difference to today’s placings and points.

Happy shooting wherever you are until SIHFT Round 6 on 28th July, when we return to Mile Oak. Between now and then there are events at Ford (an HFT Open) on Sunday the 14th and on the following weekend the double-header UKAHFT at Maldon and, if staying in Sussex, there’s Round 1 of the Horsham Summer Open.

Should you be aware of any other events of interest, please let us know.

Really good course today. Nice one Howard and Andy. Excellent new target positions....lucky for the rest of us the wind wasn't blowing too much.

Really enjoyed that - especially as I missed the last few rounds through injury. Great course and thank The Lord that the wind was kind to us. Some excellent scores - well done to those - and, for me, more practice required!
    Many thanks Buxted,

Most enjoyable... My 100th shoot !!!

….there was plenty of wind from some....

Excellent course...oft heard "what another long one"

Thanks to the grafters, where would HFT be without them, that course had some targets where a lot of work had gone in to getting it "naughty", love it.

    Pleasure Jon, what pallet

Now have to admit I am a proper geek when it comes to data, I have from the first day I ever shot HFT kept a spreadsheet of the event details, weather, my position/percentage and what my actual misses were due to (positional, wind, mis-range etc.), sad I know but it helps focus on areas that need work

Just filed it in and noted it was my 100th ever HFT shoot, what a hoot, whoop whoop

Keep up the good work chaps
