Higher powered guns might well be able to deliver more sure.

If you hunt long enough you will miss, you will make a mistake. Hopefully you will learn from such mistakes and try hard to do better next time. When hunting there is always a chance something will go amiss and that is normal, natural, regretful even. But to push the boundaries of equipment and ability knowingly, where success is but luck, is stupid and ignorant.
The killing business can be messy but at least have respect for the nature's life taken.
Totally agree with everything you say there, and very well put.

Unfortunately there are too many people out there who think being a sportsman means giving the quarry a sporting chance of survival by taking shots that are odds on in favour of missing the kill zone, which by their accounts is always unfeasibly large, and thereby wounding and condemning the animal to an uncertain and painful death.

Even more unfortunately, these people post their stuff on gun forums (I don’t do social media), where more diligent mods ought to be stopping them.
