Question Request for permission to shoot letter.

I am looking for advice from members who have secured permission to shoot from a farmer.

Would you advise a long letter detailing your equipment, skill level, BASC membership and insurance, intended prey, pest control, respect for the countryside and importantly the landowners livestock and land etc...

    or

A brief introduction with the promise to make a phone call in a week to check recept of the shorter letter with an offer to drop round, at his or her convenience, to plead your case etc...

    Cheers.

    Philip.

If you are going to write a letter, keep it short and to the point - don't ramble. Most farmers will have a lot on their plates trying to keep their heads above water without having to read some great long diatribe about how you can contribute to the fabric of society and can single - handedly reduce the entire crow and rabbit population on their land to mincemeat whilst maintaining the ecological balance...

If you want it, I have the text of a letter which I used to land permission for an 18-hole golf course. I can e-mail it to you if you're interested.

    Much appreciated

    Thanks very much guys.

I shall put something together and see how I get on. Where I live I am surrounded by farms that are either arable or have sheep.

I shall let you all know how I get on.

    Cheers.
