    BSA Mercury S

I have a hankering for a nice walnut stocked early Mercury S, if anyone has one they are thinking of selling or perhaps bringing to Kempton.

Must be complete and original, as well as working order.

I hankered after a Merc "S" as i used to own one as a boy. It took me roughly two years to find a decent one. As it turned out it wasn't that great inside so i had the internals tuned and the stock re-finished. Shoots at 11.4 ftlbs with .22 Superdomes.
It's a great garden gun and i shoot pests with it. I've put a fair bit of money in to it but it's a keeper. I'm very fond of it. A very good piece of engineering but poorly finished by BSA in the day. The Merc "S" should have knocked the socks off the competition from Germany but they messed up. I hope to fall on a scope from the period but the Hawke is just fine at the moment.
Good luck with your search J&J, i had a bit of a job finding one !

Thanks for sharing your thoughts - that's a lovely stock.

The Mercury is an underrated little gem in my view and the S is the one to have.

    Kind regards,

    John

    A pleasure John. I'm half looking for a mint(ish) one in .177.
    Definitely a gem of a gun !!
Best of luck with your search.

    Regards, Nigel
