If properly set up for sub-12, it should be four pumps.

I am confused by some of the replies. The ace has a longer pump arm and i was told by keens gunshop going back when they first come out that the innova was 7pumps,and the ace was 5 due to the slightly longer pump arm

I always thought the innova was six pumps. Five pumps and then the 6th you feel the relief valve cut in mid way through the 6th pump.

Got offered an Ace that was still boxed earlier this year, wish I brought it now.

The .22 should get to 11+ with 4 pumps and the pressure relief valve blow off during the 5th stroke. The .177's usually took 6 strokes to get to 11+ and blew off on the 7th.
If a .22 is only making 8FtLb on 4 pumps it suggests the pump is wrongly set up or there are seals leaking. I would suggest a full strip and replace all seals.

Geezer and Rancidtom are right, plus if I recall correctly, the Ace was the same

I've never seen either an Innova or Ace in .177 only .22

Owned both .22 and .177 Innovas (many of them over many years), repaired plenty more and owned a .177 Ace, repaired a good few of them in .177 and .22, although the Ace has a longer lever stroke it's no more efficient just a tiny bit easier on the muscles.

    Thank you for the replies.

I will do a strip and rebuild when I’ve got the current project finished.

short valve with an o ring piston head and longer rod
stroke was increased a small amount if I had made a new lever I would've been able to inc stroke more but as i'll be fitting a harper .25 barrel to it I think I may end up restricting it to keep under 12
I did also do something different on the valve to receiver seal and it is an ally receiver not a plastic one

I don't remember the Ace being any easier to pump than the Innova, but saying that I didn't find it hard either

The extra efficiency of the Ace over the Innova came from the longer barrel. Stroke length was the same.
