Thumbs up Sussex Interclub HFT 2019 - The Grand Finale

    Hi All

And finally …… Sunday 27th October is our last SIHFT gathering of the 2019 season, hosted by Swallows FTC, near Glynde in East Sussex.

In addition to celebrating the year with the handing out of trophies to our 'top-of-the-table' performers in each of our Classes and to the winning Club Team, there will be the usual end-of-year Draw, including cash prizes and other goodies. For the latter, you must be present to take the prize away should your name come out of the hat.

Swallows are preparing an HFT course for all-comers to shoot on the day. But it will be a little different. We will encourage you to pair up with someone less or more experienced and be allowed to coach one another when you get to a peg - before and after you've taken your shots. This has been done before and proved popular; an important way of building our shooting and coaching skills.

On the flip side - the course, which will be 30 targets shot from 15 pegs, is not being set to UKAHFT design. Yes, some part of you or your rifle must touch the peg, your trigger must not be beyond the firing line and you may only stand, kneel or lie prone. But otherwise the course layout will be more like a mix of Central Southern/Basingstoke rules (what rules? ). There will be no specified positional shots. While no target will be closer than 8 yards (a safety consideration), size of kill and distance will otherwise not be constrained.

    Should be fun

Timing is the SIHFT norm - 'gate' open at 8am; booking in from 8:30; safety brief (which you must attend if shooting the competition) shortly before a kick-off at 10:00(ish)

Entry fee is £8 unless you are a junior (under 17), for who it will be £5.

Our post code is BN8 6DB - but if you're unsure or not visited us before it's prob worth checking out the finer detail on our web site HERE If you think you can find us from a past visit, just remember that we are at Broyle PARK Farm - not Broyle PLACE farm. The latter is our neighbour and about 1/2 a mile to the West of us.

This end-of-year event is open to all safe shooters with sub 12ft/lb air rifles and from any of the five hosting clubs (Swallows, Ford, Horsham Hawks, Mile Oak and Buxted) as well as teams from our established visiting clubs (Iden Fern, Meon Valley, MAD and Bisley).

Other individuals will also be welcomed; all we ask is for a brief heads up that you would like to join us by dropping the host club a PM (that's me - Biggles) here on the BBS or Facebook message - yes we do have a Facebook presence; just search for SIHFT and you'll find us.

Tea and coffee will be available and catering will be provided care of Gerry and Stuart.

While Sunday's weather forecast is looking OK, it should be no surprise to know that the recent damp means that parking in the main field is out of the question. This means that we'll be using the areas around the farm buildings. Please ensure you do not block any routes for farm vehicles, including the entrances to any of the buildings. There's a risk of having lumps taken out of your vehicle should you get this bit wrong.

When driving through the farm please go at walking pace.

Any questions …. feel free to ask.

But not too early on Sunday. Please remember (as Jeanie reminded me) that our clocks go BACK on Saturday night.

Enjoyed that, thanks to Biggles, Vince, Matt and Alicia, Stuart and Jerry, and anyone else I've missed for setting out a fun course.
Vince and Kev it was a pleasure to shoot with you both, thanks for the ranging advice and thank you very much Mike for the special award. All in all a great day.
