    BSA Spitfire

I have just got a second hand Spitfire, the ones that I have seen in the past have had a small fill indicator on the scope rail the one I have hasn't? Is this an early example that didn't have the indicator? Also how many shots should I expect in .22.

    Cheers for any help

Sounds like it's a HF (Hi-Fill). Has it got a revolving cover over the fill point or a screw-in tacky cover over a threaded fill point? if it's a revolver then it's a HF, otherwise a SF.
232bar fill gives about 50 shots for the HF, about 40 for the SF.

You have the High Fill version which is the later and better one. Fills to 232 bar. Only the Standard Fill ones have the pressure cooker indicator.

Thanks chaps, it looks like I've got a HF carbine version.
One other question, when I charge the rifle I can get it up to about 150bar then it won't fill any more until I back it off and then open it up again a couple of times until the required charge is achived. Is this normal?
(The divers tank is full a 300bar)

Blipping the pressure is quite normal due to restrictors in the filler.
