Yup - it's a spring powered air rifle, so it is legal and you can shoot it in the 6 yard MPL - no problem.

When I first started the MPL competitions many years ago (it was for 10 metre air pistols only back then) we used to have a small penalty for those shooting a recoilless air pistol to make sure nobody felt they were at a disadvantage if they were competing against them with a "kicker".

If I remember correctly the penalty was 3 points, but we added this to the scores of those who were shooting with a kicker.

This worked well enough, but the best shooters all reverted back to shooting kickers again and were soon able to beat the best recoilless shooters by claiming the extra +3 points per target!

We later changed this to +2 points and this helped even things back up again between the two types. These days we do not shoot in 10 metre MPL club pistol teams any more and we do not make any adjustments between the two types of air pistol as most people only shoot at the shorter 6 yard distance for their own pleasure and usually only compare their scores against their previous results for personal reference........and mainly for fun!

Sadly, we have never really had lots of 6 yard air rifle shooters take part in the MPL, but from what I can see there is not the same level of difference shown between rifle types at 6 yards as we had between recoilless and kicker air pistols at 10 metres so I doubt that it would make very much difference.

Previously I have shot a SSP air rifle in the 6 yard MPL rifle series and enjoyed it. I am sure you will enjoy shooting your Model 75 in the 6 yard MPL - it is a superb match rifle that is as accurate as a PCP and lovely to shoot.

The only MPL competition you cannot shoot it in is the 10 meters "Springers with Scopes" competition that we reserve for sporting kickers only.
