Round 2 of the UKAHFT National Series takes place at Meon Valley Airgun Club on Sunday 17 May, and as this is the first time the Club has ever played host to a “National”, it will therefore also be the first visit for many of the competitors to this venue, and so we’ve put together some information to help you get the most from your trip down to Hampshire…

Location: Round 2 will take place at the Club’s grounds at Hen Woods grounds, located a short distance east of the village of West Meon. The nearest postcode for Hen Woods is GU32 1HY (Westbury House Nursing Home), and the entrance to the woods is another 100 yards further down the road, directly opposite a mirror on the side of the road, and you’ll see a large UKAHFT banner. Turn onto the track, and continue along as it wends its way uphill, bearing left at the fork in the track - once again, you’ll spot the “HFT this way” sign! Continue along the track for another half mile or so, and you’ll arrive at the part of the woods where the competition is being staged, and traffic marshals will be on hand to point you to the best place to park.

If you are arriving on Saturday: We appreciate that it’s a long journey for many competitors, and so to make your trip down to Hampshire even more worthwhile Meon Valley Airgun Club are putting on an HFT Fun Open Competition on Saturday 16 May. This will take place in the same venue, but in a different sector of Hen Woods - we’re so fortunate in having a very substantial tract of woodland in which we can set out multiple courses.

Signing in will be from 12 Noon, with the mandatory safety brief taking place at 2.00 PM, and the 30 target HFT competition starting immediately after. There is no entry fee for this competition, and after the shoot a Meon Valley Airgun Club gold, silver or bronze badge will be awarded (free) to each qualifying competitor; the grade of badge awarded will be calculated in accordance with the UKAHFT badge format.

Where to stay: We’re fortunate in having a good number of excellent pubs with accommodation in and around the villages of East Meon and West Meon, and we’ve listed just a few of the below…

The Thomas Lord is located in West Meon, very close to our Hen Woods grounds, has rooms and a reputation for great pub food.

Ye Olde George Inn is also very close by in the neighbouring village of East Meon, and once again has accommodation and an excellent menu.

The George & Falcon at Warnford is approximately 15 minutes away from Hen Woods, and also has rooms available as well as being a great place to eat.

There are also a number of B&B options close by, including The Long House at East Meon (a converted barn and stables), whilst Upper Parsonage Farm (also in East Meon) also offers camping as well as Bed & Breakfast. Alternatively, numerous other B&B establishments can be found on AirBnB

Those who enjoy a night under canvass might also consider the nearby Cedar Valley campsite, whilst less hardy souls may wish to opt for the Premier Inn at Petersfield (very handy as its located just off the southbound carriageway of the A3)

PLEASE NOTE: Camping is not available at our Hen Woods grounds!
