    Variable magnification target scopes

I am researching a new target scope for 25 yard benchrest. At the moment I am using a Leupold fixed 36X which is excellent but am wondering about getting a variable from about 10X upwards as I may change rifles soon. The problem is getting a high magnification scope that will focus at 25 yards. I tried the big Hawke 10 - 50X but the highest that it will focus at 25 yards was only about 12X. Any suggestions for a suitable scope?

    12x is plenty innit?

Had you tried parallaxing it at 25 yds?

I use a big Hawke set to 50x for 25m benchrest without any problem.

Did you have to parralax it or is it AO?

Not when shooting the UK Rimfire Benchrest postal competition Varmint classes. OK for Sporter Class.

    Yes, it has side parallax.

It has side parallax, 12x or so is fine at 25 yards but for me anything higher is not usable.

Good result for you then. It was not up to the job for me.

There must have been an issue with your Hawke 10-50 as I've had one and they parallax down to 10y no problem, as do:

Sightron SIII, Big Nikko, Falcon T50/X50 to name but a few, and they can all be used for BR at 25y. Currently I'm using a Delta 5-50 and it to goes down to 10yards.

Basically any scope you see in FT will be suitable for what you have said
