You can mod a multi mode torch to be a single mode one . it involves soldering so may not be ideal if you don't have access to a soldering iron . plus it may drive the led harder than it normally would be .

I did it on a 5 mode torch and it worked ok but ran the led harder than it was when not direct driven

Go for one with a memory mode driver that will come on at the last mode it was used on .

Almost all cheaper torches are multi mode .

Energiser used to do not bad Head torches that were single mode ( ok some had a 3 way switch and had a red led setting ) https://www.energizer.com/lighting/hands-free-lighting

Maybe see if there is a local stockist and try them .

Ive had this and its predecessor, the Vapour, for years now.
    For garden and wading/fishing beaches.

    Its all you need.
    Single switch cycles through on/strong/half/off.
    Waterproof.
    Weighs next to nothing.
    Uses just one AAA.
