Poll: Favourite general purpose classic springer pistol?

Not a 10M match gun. Not a pop-out, smoothbore, or BB. Just a good honest gun that will shoot decent groups on paper but is equally at home knocking over cans.

Depends on the mood but if push came to shove, the Webley Senior or Premier take some beating.

My top three, in order, are the Diana, the Senior/Premier, and the Scorpion.

If you can get a good zero: Webley Tempest....compact, powerful and very pointable.

If you can’t get a good zero on the Tempest: Webley Hurricane, bit bigger but great sights.

    .177 of course

I guess for anyone growing up in the uk “air pistol” pretty much meant one of the Webley models.

I think my favourite is a slant grip senior

I was trying to think of something cleverer but tbh I think I’ll just stick with that
    Morally flawed

Agree on that. Have a February 72 in .22 that shoots great, even better now I have acquired a 177 barrel.👍

Err - that's a pop out and couldn't shoot a decent group if you spent a week trying

Slant grip Senior by a nose. Compact, extremely easy to work on, feels like a firearm. British as yer boot.
HW45 is the better shooter but it's a brick, and needed some work doing (TBT kit and a coil off the spring transformed it) to reach full potential.
Mod 6 (etc) and FWB65 are probably better pistols than either but are they 'general purpose'?
Walther LP53 could be a contender?
HW70 was much less good than I expected it to be.
    Still not shot a Scorpion.
BSA Magnum 240 could have been up there but for another year or so in R+D. What a waste.
    Good deals with these members
