    Air Rifle for Children

    Hi.
Just after opinions or recommendations really. What PCP would be good for a 10 year old to start with? I have an S400 which is fine but a little heavy for him.
Had been considering an S200 for him but wondered if there were any reasonable alternatives?

    Thanks in advance.

An Ultra, but it has a low shot count - or I have seen several people do a stock and mod addition to the lowly P700 bringing it in at around a couple of hundred pounds - looks really good and does about 80+ shots at just under 6fpe which is great for kids in the back yard, really accurate too

You've also got the Crosman 2250 as a cheap option, but it's CO2, and the LOP may be a bit long for a 10 year old. Very customisable though.

    I’d seriously consider an S200.
Small, light, and perfect as a first PCP.

IIRC the S400k is lighter than the S200.

the length of the stock is a bigger problem than weight at that age...

so chose a gun either with a junior sized stock, or one where you can buy a cheap spare stock and shorten it. Or as stated above, a shoulder stock for a PCP pistol (like a P700) is a great option. Chopping a 2250 stock and affixing an adjustable butt pad works well (and the stocks are less than £30 new).

lots of options, but with the exception of the ultra junior, they all seem to require some DIY.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
