    Pellet speed in MPH

Hi guys, How do i work out the calculation to understand how fast in miles per hour the pellet leaves the barrel of my 11.8ft/lb Air Arms S410 in .22 cal.
Regardless of pellet weight i presume they all travel at the same speed when leaving the barrel.
When the pellet leaves the barrel is it travelling at its fastest speed or is it likely to go faster maybe 10 yards down the line

They don't all travel down the barrel at the same speed, and they won't get any faster after they've left it.

you should be close to 600fps @ that power so your pellet will be travelling @ 409.09mph

    Pellet Speed

44ft per sec equals 30 mph
Therefore 300 mph would be 440 ft per sec
600 feet per sec would be 409 mph

Generally speaking lighter pellets travel faster given the same ft lbs of energy behind them..
Generally heavier pellets fly slower, have a loopier trajectory.
    .177 are generally faster than .22 .20 or .25
However there are variables like :-
    1. how efficient the pellet design shape is at flying through the air
    ( aerodynamic co-efficient )
    2. how well the pellet is suited to your barrel.
    3.. barrel fouling.
    4. pellet lubrication.
    5. alloy mix of the pellet as pellets are not always 100% pure lead
( antimony and other elements effect self lubrication ? )
    Hope this helps

    FPS X 0.679886685 = MPH or roughly use 0.68

    750 fps X 0.679886685 = 509.9150138 mph

    A quick calculation :

    Energy of 340tonne Jumbo = 5,235,000,000 ft/lbs

Almost enough to kill a goose.
