You will be pleased to know that this competition suites "ancient old gits" very nicely - as well as the unfit and the infirm - thus giving the positively fit and youthful absolutely no advantage whatsoever...apart from superior eyesight perhaps?

Two of us that enjoy shooting in the Supported Air Rifle series are '49ers who will both be celebrating their 71sit birthdays this year, so you will be in good (?) company.

Depending on just how ancient you are, you may or may not yet be old enough to shoot in the seated position, but to be honest we have tested the Supported Shooting both seated and standing and although we have chosen to shoot in the standing position, we have noticed very little difference one way or the other.

We have been discussing the possibility of seated shooting as the years continue to take their toll and would have no problem with somebody else choosing to shoot that way if they were officially "ancient" - and that would be aged 77 or over!

I think we could reduce that age limit to 70 for our purposes when seated shooting would be "officially" accepted! but we would always be open to listen sympathetically to any reasonable proposal.

Resting the grip of your pistol on a hard 50mm diameter bar (maximum diameter) and shooting single handed is not as easy as people think, and is very different to shooting from a rest or a soft or shaped surface. This is comparatively easy.

Only a tangent can be formed between the hard base of the pistol grip and the hard surface of the bar to give the support and this can be quite difficult to control as the hard surfaces have no grip at all and can feel slippery! No "preparation" is permitted to change this to a grippy surface on either the hard bar or the underside of the pistol grip including shaping the underside of the grip to increase the surface contact area to be greater than a tangent.

These same rules apply to the hard underside of a rifle in the rifle discipline too,

Many think that Supported Shooting is too easy to give a try, but we have known people to try this and think it is easier to shoot free-standing where the body can act like a "shock-absorber" and can actually make an easier shot!

Look forward to having you shoot with us in the MPL.

Stay safe!

Bob.
