    Heads Up - Scope Deals

Sportsman Gun Centre are doing a variety of Minox ZL3 scopes at £133 plus delivery. RRP apparently is £400.

I ordered a ZL3 2-7x35 for my new Zbroia Hortitsia and am impressed.

    I've now ordered a 4-12x40 for the new .243
    Daystate Air Ranger FAC - Kral Bullpup & NP03 - CZ 452 .22lr - Lithgow 17hmr - Remington 783 .223 - Franchi 612vs 12G - Renato Gamba 12G O/U - Hatsan Escort 12G

Yes, I got a couple of the 2-7's a few weeks ago and just ordered 3-9 and a 4-12. I am mightily impressed with the quality and at those prices they are a bargain.

I saw these, but wondered about the parallax setting. How is yours on an air rifle?

They are parallaxed to 91.4 yards apparently! On 2x mine focuses to literally 1 yard!

On my garden range which is 20 yards or thereabouts I can get a clear focus, (for my eyes at any rate!) at about 4 mag. If I back myself up into the kitchen and shoot from there at 25 yards or so, clarity is the same but at about 5 mag. I always sight concentric down the tube if you know what I mean so point of aim does not shift.

That said; though I have no intention to do it they do seem like they could be re focused if needed.

To look at, they look a hell of a lot like the Nikko Panamax and Hawk Vantage Max scopes, I wonder if they are made in the same factory?

    Underneath the turrets it says;

"Designed in Germany by Minox made in the Philippines"

I am a Hawke fan, which are mostly made in China, and I cannot see any similarities twixt the two in the flesh tbh.

I can understand that, I wonder if there is a new generic scope body design that certain manufacturers purchase and then fit with their own lenses and innards, I've been noticing a lot of different brands are starting to look the same, apart from cosmetic things like zoom rings etc that differ from maker to maker, I may be wrong and I most probably am, unless makers are now copying each others designs but I can see similarities between them all but others may not.

Not in this case I'd say, the minox has an unusual turret block, kind of angled. I have hawke scopes and nikko stirling. The minox is made in a different country too. Also the minox is deffo better quality and clarity than my vantage and Panamax

Thanks for that Phil, that's cleared that up then, it's interesting to know sometimes, what is made where, as a lot of these scopes are made in the same factory and working out which are the better quality ones, can be a problem sometimes.

Well if they were the same as a panamax someone was having a laugh with a £400 rrp for the 3-9×40! Looking forward to receiving mine.

I said they looked the same as the Panamax, what I was trying to say was I wonder if they where may be made in the same factory but to Minox specs, the tubes look similar to me from photo's.

I think a lot of companies have a laugh with their prices.

I couldn't find many reviews, but at £133 the 3.5-10x50 looked reasonable, so I ordered one for my HMR - I've been looking for something with better low-light performance than the current ancient Nikko, hopefully this will be an improvement and also properly waterproof.

Has anyone tried to reparallax one yet and with any success? The 3-9x40 with the BDC could make a good little HFT scope if it could be reparallaxed.
