The face looks iffy, going to clean it up with a dowel with some Emery glued to the end

Did a bit more, bit off a faff cleaning out the bottom of the cylinder, used various bits and bobs Emery glued to the end of a delrin plug and soaked it in acetone, but finally I have a nice clean face , o ring and piston ringed pistons like a nice square face to land on. My end block has a slight concave bit in the middle where the machining hadn't cleaned up so some lost volume there.
I made up the parts for my piston today and glued them up ready for final machining.

Will cut a groove for a standard sized o ring and then I have the option to use either that or piston ring
Oh and machined a flat on the cocking shoe to run against the rear of the piston.

what piston weight are you looking at Nick ?

The plan is for a soft cycle sporter, I know that I could run this at 90 mm stroke in 21mm and still have a soft cycle with circa 160gram piston , though fast ,gone for 23mm as looking for venom style soft but with lower movement. So aiming for 170/180gm hence ally nose , the steel skirt will have ,0.75mm wall , so can dial the weight in with steel piston weight.

sound perfect, thats exactly where my 23mm tx is at, so i doubt you'll need to add any. the 24mm 80 is actualy nearer 200g, but it shot nice so i left it alone...

Well got the piston finished, rid, buttons and guide pin, just got to bore the trigger block for a fixed guide, and settle in s spring, thinking either tx MK3, it 97 will begin with the tx as the bore is bigger, then if I have to use a 97 spring, I can machine the guide down https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZVjKKCHYuKbWTGabAhttps://photos.app.goo.gl/hDNUNNKPBCgatfez9https://photos.app.goo.gl/e2osRLWR7GHtFXEJ7

Got a bit more done https://photos.app.goo.gl/AnrM8zksNNYvDko38https://photos.app.goo.gl/48wVwYANBqcEwgLm8
Just a top hat and I can get it shooting, will make a cast iron piston ring before I build so I can test with both .

So made a top hat and a cast iron ring (two actually) and couldn't get them into the groove the o ring dimensions are too big for the cast ring to work,so made a synthetic one from the precious material I have been using in the tx
Built it all up with a tx spring , but needed a lot of pre load, and it made 11.2 with 7.9 and 10.8, with exacts only had 4.53 to hand I think it would do 11 on 4 .52, this is on the standard transfer port. The tx spring is too close in diameter to the bore of the piston and with the large pre load (50mm) I can feel it catching on cocking, so plan b is a 97 spring smaller diameter and a bit longer .

sounds like your piston weight will be perfect

Fingers crossed Jon, I can always add a little weight via a steel top hat if needed, I was pleased the sleeve o ring sealed straight off , its a bit awkward to install as its half a groove if you get my meaning, the bottom of the cylinder forms the front of the groove , trying to keep lost volume to a minimum.
