Thread: Any idea how this sling stud works?

    Inside there should a spring & a cone of either metal or plastic the spring pushes the cone up which forces the bearings out to engage in the socket, you could try penetrating oil in case it's a bit rusty or dirty inside.
    I don't suppose there's a grub screw or circlip to disassemble it when you look in the hole in the bottom or do the two halfs unscrew ?

    There is a cone but it doesn't move. I've tried using force as much as i dare in a vice. Could try WD40 I suppose. I did wonder if the cone is supposed to move.

    Just a guess but is there a hex head grub screw down the middle that as you wind it in it pushes the cone in and the bearings out to form a tight fit??
