Huma reg in a ultra, worth the cost?

As much as I love my mmc ultra, a few more consistent shots wouldn't go amiss. I keep looking at regging it but find it hard to justify the nearly £100 cost on a gun that's only worth around £200. Has anyone done it without regret, what sort of shot count do you get from a 200 bar fill. Mine is in .177 and at the moment get 35 consistent shots from 190 down to 100

Imo except the Ultras limitations and enjoy it for what it is. An excellent little hunter, but certainly wouldn't be my choice for targets. Would I spend a £100 on a gun worth £200 ? Not blxxdy likely

That's what I keep coming round to thinking. Some folk must see the justification otherwise they wouldn't sell them. At £50 I'd give it a go but not £100.

Would you consider a longer cylinder?.
I replaced my 170mm cylinder on my ultra se for the 320mm length cylinder and gained 35+ extra shots over standard 35 shots in .177.you are still looking at £60 ish for the replacement cylinder from Knibbs.
I did put a HUMA reg in my Bsa Hornet to replace the original one,and it’s good for 85+ shots in .177.

id also consider a slightly longer air tube....

a lot depends on how you use the rifle, and what it needs to do for you. if its perfect for it's intended use in every aspect except the shot count, or the power curve, then Id not mind spending the ton on it.

but if it were sub optimal for that role in other aspects, id probably put the money towards a gun that better suited those reqs.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

I've now owned the gun from new and I have on occasion run low on air as I like to have a plink on my hunting sessions which is what I use it for. Without getting the ruler out would the longer cylinder stop me from fitting a moderater? It does make sense over the reg

I had to fit a slimmer moderater, some thing like the Parker Hale mod would be ok.

Sorry but you dont buy or invest in a reg to make a profit??

It doesnt add value to the gun. It ads (or should) increase shot count and improve consistancy.

What price you put on it is up to you.

Its a precision device that potentially needs setting up right as well as being made well.

People spend extra on car additional packages but you loose it as soon as it drives off the forecourt. You didnt choose them coz it meant you could sell it for more. You chose it because of the function.

My 100 is excellent EXCEPT for shot count. It was very low. Now i got 9 mags and I can easily get thru all 9 without a refill following a Ratworks reg and tube.

Its a personal call. If you bug about cost, then try 2nd hand for a reg or suck on what you got.

Just asking if anyone has fitted one and think it's worth it? Not thinking about profit on the gun

My two ultras and one hornet have Huma regs fitted and longer cylinders . As mentioned it won’t really add that much value if i sell but I didn’t do it for that, I fill to 240 bar and can shoot all the way down to the reg setting , takes a little to set up with balancing all the component parts but I really enjoy a tinker and you will know exactly how the gun works and never need to send it away for a service again , they really are easy to work on

I have fitted rowan engineering triggers too them also and can honestly say they are as accurate as you could ever need and a joy to use

If you want to keep the gun and like it then I certainly recommend fitting a reg and learning how to set it up
