    First sliding comp tube rifle

Which air rifle maker first came out with the design of a sliding compression tube and fixed barrel?
I think it may be Anschutz, but perhaps I am wrong.
    🤔

    I think it's Anschutz too. Mod 220, 1959.

If only BSA had seen the light and copied the sliding comp tube for the airsporter.

Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Turns out Shanghai Air Gun factory was established in 1957. So depending on what they made for the first 2 years, they may have beaten Anschutz to it.

They do make copies. But i think they also make their own. Things like the B2 and b3
The fwb300 copy was the 'BS4'. It's actually still on their website.

I have an Anschutz 220 it's an interesting and quirky gun with its flip up,(Nylon)? loading channel inside the sliding breech.

I seem to remeber something in a Guns Review article by the late Dennis Cummins where he showed a patent dating from around WW1 that was a dead ringer for the FWB. Anyone out there with a better memory for more details?
