The Crosman 22 Magnum was made between 1978 and 1989. there were three variations made, the first variation had a chrome receiver(1978 to 82). The second had a black receiver (1982 to 83). The third had a brown stock and forearm (1983-89).
Two more similar models also came out, the 2200B 1989-06 and the 2200W 1997-03.
I've not seen a first or second variant with a stock in any other colour than brown?
If your Crosman airgun was manufactured after July of 1975, the first three or four digits of the serial number indicate the month and year the gun was built. For example if the first three or four digits of the serial number were 1179 or N79 then your gun was manufactured in November of 1979.
The first 3 digits of the serial number on mine is 191, indicating it would be January 1991?
some of the stocks were darker but tbh most look the same
the 1st were chrome receivers
the 2nd were black sithe the silver printing
the 3rd has just a black receiver
there is a few other differences inc the barrel cover and pivot roll pin size
Bring it to Kempton Shedtuner I'd like to see the bling! I've avoided plastic airguns in the past but these are fun and at least these older versions have metal receivers.

Just checked my early chrome 2200.. it does actually have a much darker brown plastic stock that the latter variants.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
I still find the Wilkins Pellet pouch hard to beat but I've recently been using a material one with a glasses case opening. The closer doesn't shut tight enough and the pellets can spill so I contacted the seller and they kindly sent out another. It may be better suited to storing magazines but I hope it works because these are 1/3 of the price of a wilkins.
My favourite has been the watch style one which I was given about 20 years ago. It can conveniently wrap around a buddy bottle and gravity will allow a pellet to drop into your palm.
I have a couple of the watch type I bought new back in the day.. "Disapellet" or somesuch IIRC. Very handy.

Airgun World November 1981
The magnum 2200 was putting out far from magnum power, producing 7 fpe. I cleaned out the pump tube and fitted a new pump cup seal and felt pressure build quicker, unfortunately the valve seals didn't like it and now it leaks air after 7 pumps through the bleed hole. I will have to strip it down for a full re-seal.
Sometimes I think why do I bother trying with these plastic guns but I just can't help coming back to them. Not surprisingly the weak stock ears are broken and the leak was coming from the Canada/UK power limiter bleed valve.
