I first joined the club in November 1985, I still have my membership badge with my original photo and membership number (36).
I think back to those days quite often, and even though it was invariably freezing cold in the quarry, and the only shelter then was the car you came in, the day always passed far too quickly, and the next Sunday would never come fast enough.
My membership lapsed with the arrival of children, but now that they're old enough to see to themselves, I'm back in the fold.
The most pleasant surprise that I found on rejoining was that the club ethos was exactly the same as when I left, the emphasis was still on fun, everybody was extremely helpful, and there was absolutely no equipment snobbery at all, everyone was made welcome with whatever gun they brought with them, providing that they shot safely.
The best thing about the present club is the stove in the club room ! and the choice of an indoor range and two outdoor ranges.
I'm proud to be associated with Rivington Riflemen, and I look forward to the next 20 years.

    Hello again Ian,
a voice or rather an e mail from the past. Got myself a new pc and broadband and back on here more often now. Collection doing fine, but still a backlog of work.

Anyway, as stated by all the above also; many congratulations mate. It must be hard going and quite wearing sometimes keeping a task like yours going, and its people like you that we all owe a debt of thanks in keeping the profile and positive image of the sport in the public's eye.

Well done, and here's to the next 20!

    best regards

    Dave
