it just stopped working Les
i seem to remember a while ago somebody mentioned one of the members fixed them

It is worth checking out the power supply first. Can you connect a battery to it? Check the transformer voltage?
My Skan 'broke' some time ago, I checked the transformer and found it had a broken lead and no output voltage. Fastening battery to the Skan and all was well. I found a suitable transformer at a computer recycling place ... cost me all of about 50p. But I then took the original transformer apart ... no screws so had to break seals ... and found the broken wire on the output cable. Repaired it, refastened the transformer together .... all fixed.
