I’d asked the question in the past at our club. We have an indoor 50yrd range, 25yrd range which is also used by the live ammo boys, black powder etc ( on different nights to the airguns obviously ) and an outside 45yrd covered range.

My FAC airgun is a 23ftlb BSA Hornet and the answer was an emphatic NO. I can use it on live ammo nights if I pay an extra £30 a year on top of the £60 airgun subscription but even then I can only use it on the indoor 25yrd range on paper targets. As it’s very accurate out to 50+ yards, 25yrds on paper is frankly boring so I said forget it.

Shame really as the outside range would be perfectly safe ( open ticket ) but apparently as it isn’t home office approved it’s still a no go. With an open ticket it’s down to the shooter to be satisfied the land is safe ( backstop is a massive 15’ high earth mound ) and I have BASC insurance, but it’s still a no go

At the end of the day club rules are club rules and that’s that.
