    Which 300 bar 12v Compressor

    Hello gents

Hoping to tap the collective knowledge.

Which is the best 12v 300 bar compressor to buy from the current crop?

This is the smaller ones which do not require water cooling as just designed to fill buddy bottles.

    Cheers !

It's the small ones for buddy bottles that DO need the water cooling
It's the mid size that don't, if I was going to buy one it would be the Hills.

No, the buddy bottle ones do not need water cooling. The ones you thinking about are also for filling larger cylinders as well.

The 12v ones typically have a transformer and are relatively slow, hence being able to make do with just air cooling.

The Hill's is good, but that is definitely not small....and 800 quid.

Just checked Gun Trader, they are also water cooled Yong Heng or New Warrior.

The 12v ones are a much smaller beast.

They are similar beasts and common, use extra filtering to make sure the air is clean and dry, use a decent size water reservoir to help keep the temperature down and don't run it too long and hot, let it rest and cool if you are filling anything sizeable and it should be fine. I've had a New Warrior since just before lockdown and it's been no problem.

The issue is the water...where I am going to use it I need a 12v one which is air cooled. The Yong Heng / New Warrioor water cooled products are totally different in design. They will run too hot if no water cooling.

So, as per initial post, does anyone have experience of the current crop of 12v compressors air cooled. New Warrior have, Air Venturi have one, plus there are a few more out there.

    Not water cooled compressors.

I bought a nomad 2 compressor when our local dive shop stopped doing fills. It seems reliable, isn't massively loud and fills a rifle very quickly, and my 300 bar 1 litre buddy bottle in about 10 minutes from 150 - 300 bar. i have never run it off the attached 12 volt cables so I can't comment on whether it is slower than running off mains 240v power. It comes with a pack of particle filters, but after a couple of dozen fills the original is still in good shape so you would probably get hundreds of fills from these, and has a water trap which I empty every 3 fills or so. It comes with a carry bag and its small enough to be portable if that is important. I like mine but don't know if they are still available.

    Cheers Buffo.
    Sounds like a thumbs up.
Do you know if Air Venturi make the Nomad 2, or whether it is imported from China.l? There are a few similar looking Chinese one...
The GX pumps look good as well.

I think it is made in China to air venturi spec, I don't know if the quality control is better or not or whether they ship to the states first or come straight here from the factory.

There is a couple of comparison videos on YouTube, Andys Airguns has most of them in his video.

Andy Airgun reviews are very good, certainly better informed than most.

    Shortlist is :

    1) Nomad 2 - 650 quid
    2) GX 2 - 350 quid
    3) Hills - 800 quid
    4) Tuxing Portable - 400 quid

Any missing from the shortlist ?

My gut instinct is telling me buying British may some long term benefits, despite the initial outlay
