    Theoben slr

I've just stripped my slr98 to fit a new cocking shoe whilst I have it apart is there any benefit to polishing the piston and or the piston sleeve?
There was a fair bit of gunk on the them so cleaned them up, it shot nicely before and don't want to do anything unnecessary if a regrease etc will do.
Also when fitting the knew cocking shoe I believe I need to tap the edges around to fit the piston, correct?

Not sure if its the same with the SLR but with others if you cock it out of the stoch you will damage the shoe . you may already know that though

It was already sheared both edges when I got, I noticed when I took the stock off, hence why I'm fitting a new one

You can clean and polish the bearing surfaces same as you would for a springer.
