    Theoben Rapid 7 Questions

I'm considering one in FAC. 2 Questions please.....

How can you tell the Mk1 from the Mk2 (Were there any others?)
    Which should I go for?

    Cheers

MK2 completely different stock, reg in 12FP or longer fast flow in FAC (FF is same length as a reg, not like the shorter bottle adapter on the MK1). You can also have regged FAC, but needs a bit of fettling from someone like KevG.

For FAC, the more efficient porting of the MK2 should give you a few more shots, but if you find a good deal on a MK1, I'd be happy. I had both on 12 FP and FAC, and they were all good. Just choose the one where you can most easily confirm the accuracy, preferably with either 16 or 18 grain pellets, as some only work well with Bisley Mag or similar 20+ grainers. At 30FP, you are pretty sweet in terms of power vs air use & noise, but that's a bit low for a 21 grain pellet in terms of trajectory.

Also test the triggers - some are fine, some are a bit crap. MK2 triggers generally better.

    Don't rule out MFR either.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Well the only Rapid 7 was the early mk1, with a 7 shot mag, after that it's just "Rapid".

MK1 has a metal trigger guard & flat front to the stock, assuming the stock is original, 280cc bottle & no reg, but people often fit after market regs

MK2 has a more concave sculpted front to the stock which extends 2" or 3" under the bottle which is 400cc, the trigger guard is part of the woodwork, sub 12 is reg'd FAC can be reg'd or fast flow.

MFR has a much longer stock fore-end which surrounds the 280cc bottle, the bottle valve is different allowing removal without dry firing to empty the chamber, barrels were shrouded but many now have a std barrel to take a std aftermarket mod.

There's also an S type, I'm not sure of the full spec but I think it has a "tactical" picatiny rail inlet underneath the stock for a bipod, and there's also a TTR with fully adjustable stock & matt black finish metalwork.

They have model type stamped on the left side of the block, but that doesn't actually mean much because parts are interchangeable so it might be upgraded, MFR's can say Rapid, Rapid 11 or MFR, Mk2 can say Rapid or Rapid 11,
Oh & then there's the sporter block fitted with the sporter trigger which has an access slot cut in the left side of the block but hidden by the stock, the sporter trigger has a round sliding safety catch rather than the "flick" fwd/back flat lever of the mk4 trigger.

For FAC go mk 2 in either .22 or .25,
.177 & .20 are both pretty pointless in FAC because with no power limit you can give .22 & .25 the same velocity.
